And you need to get you head out of your @ss and come to the realization that this team might be very weak for however long Dolan owns the team or Shapiro is running it. Shapiro has not been rebuilding pal he has been dismantling. I know people tend to drink a little more at Christmas time but you should slow down because it is only the 22nd.

    Another Cleveland Live response rolleyes
Shapiro FYI knows what he is doing, purging an aging team that can't win anything other than a token divisional title and then a early exit from the playoffs, that is assuming we win the AL central. The White Sox will win the division in 2002 even if we did not trade Alomar or let Gonzales go. This is a short term temporary rebuild on the fly solution. We do not have ziltch as far as everyday prospects in the system, Corey Smith and Victor Martinez are three yrs away at the earliest, so what is the solution? Keep bandaiding this aging everyday players with even more aging vets? Heck no! Shapiro sends the only tradeable player with any market value in Alomar for a potential impact player in Alex Escobar to join another potential All Star Milton Bradley, He also gets a front of the rotation starter in Billy Traber who is another year or two away from joining CC-Colon-Baez-Drese. We are not trying to win A WS next year, we are taking a step back to regroup or rebuild the everyday lineup. What are u guys proposing? Lets all get old together and start rebulding two three yrs from now when the rest of these guys will be out of baseball or on a serious decline?

and very far be it for me to agre with srg and the genius, but the Indians are far better off thinking longterm - and that is exactly what Shapiro and Dolan are doing...

the premise that to think long-term means you can't think short term is not a valid one.

The short term thinking is that while rebuilding we can still stay competitive and at the same time building for the future by developing players likeBradley-Escobar-Drese-Baez.
